Dr. Clifton Fay, Jr. is a native of Columbus, Georgia, where he graduated from Brookstone School. He received a degree in biology from the University of Georgia, graduated magna cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Fay received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship at the OU Health Sciences Center and his ophthalmology residency at the Dean McGee Eye Institute of the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Dr. Fay joined Berg Eye Group in 2017.
Dr. Fay is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon. He has special interests in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, advanced intraocular lens technologies, and complex cataract and anterior segment surgery. He has numerous professional affiliations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Christian Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Fay currently serves as the Chief of Ophthalmology for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Fay is married to Albany native Laura Stubbs Fay, M.D., an internist at Albany Internal Medicine. Dr. Fay enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 young children and participating in international medical missions, fly-fishing, hunting, and cheering for his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.
